Biannual, a synonym for semiannual, means twice a year; biennial means every two years.

Bimonthly means every other month; biweekly, every other week. Semimonthly means twice a month; semiweekly, twice a week.

References to the Washington University Board of Trustees in uppercase:

“He is on the Board of Trustees.”
“He is on the Board.”

References to other boards in lowercase:

“She is on the board of trustees of Exxon.”
“She is on the board.”

Use of chair of the Board of Trustees or trustee should be avoided as formal titles; instead, use with commas before or after the name:

“A trustee, Barbara Schaps Thomas, will speak.”
“Give it to a trustee.”

When listing the members of the Board of Trustees, follow the precedent set by the Office of the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Also send the list to the Office of the Secretary for approval before printing.
